Hi all.
Our alumnus, Shi Mei would be performing in an upcoming concert, pls let me know or drop me a sms by next WED (2nd July) if you're interested. I should be getting the CAT 5 S$11.20 tickets, but it really depends on availability!
Here are the details:
President's Young Performers Concert (SSO)
DATE 11 Jul 2008 7.30pm
SYNOPSIS
Wang Ya-Hui conductor
Lee Shi Mei, violin
Albert Lin, piano
BERNSTEIN A Musical Toast
BERNSTEIN Fancy Free: Three Dance Variations
KORNGOLD Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35
RIMSKY-KORSAKOV Piano Concerto in C-sharp minor, Op. 30
LISZT Les Preludes
Erich Korngold was a composition prodigy – only 11 when his first work was performed in Vienna. Aside from his later Hollywood movie scores, it was the Violin Concerto which brought him fame in his time. Franz Liszt was one of the pioneers of the symphonic poem – a piece of orchestral music based on a literary, poetic or extra-musical idea. Of the twelve that he wrote, Les Preludes remains the most popular today.

ATTENTION to all SE members!
Please make an effort to collect more styrofoams!
These foams are needed to protect all the cellos and double basses which would be brought over to London. The current amount of styrofoam is definitely not enough to protect these big instruments and it would be great if everyone were to help.
Some suggestions where you could collecte styrofoam:
Shops selling TVs/ computers
Ask from your relatives, friends, neighbours if they have unwanted foams!
If anyone has better suggestions on where to get more foam, just inform the rest! :)
It's still not too late to collect and bring the foams to school!!!

IT'S TOMORROW PEOPLE!
Let's just do our best and have no regrets! Don't be afraid to PLAY under the immense pressure of the audience (your mama, papa, auntie, uncle, boyfriend...) and though your fingers start to sweat and your mind goes a bit blank, just remember that we're all behind each other and we can make this concert a success!
SO, jiayou and have fun! If people see you having fun, they'll naturally feel our vibe and enjoy our concert too! MOVE MORE, PLAY OUT, AND SMILEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~
Love, Nic.

To all DHSSE students
It's that time of the year again...
Last year it was fresh from a joyous moment in the competitions..now a year later, let's celebrate the fact you'll be able to finally step foot in UK. Your programme looks challenging and yet musically rich, so the audience will be in for a bigger treat this year :)
I'll be dropping by tomorrow to hear you all...do try to practise hard and focus on giving your best shot--those graduating, those who stepped in, those who are helping out even backstage, every person has a part and role to play in making the concert a big success.
All the best everyone and I'm sure you can perform your best next week :)
Ms Debbie Tan
